Beta: waitlistPraevisio, by FiberNxt

See which optic needs attention, before your link goes down

Praevisio is an agent you install in your own network. It tracks laser bias current, Tx/Rx power, temperature, CRC errors, FEC and flaps per port, and compares every optic with its own baseline. You get advice in steps, cheapest cause first.

Praevisio is in beta and not publicly available yet. Join the waitlist and we'll get in touch as soon as there's room.

Your switch already measures it. Nobody's looking.

  • The DOM values of every optic are right there in your switch. Your monitoring doesn't show them, or only once an alarm has already fired.

  • A vendor threshold says little about this one module. Every optic has its own normal; drifting away from it is the signal.

  • CRC errors or a flapping link? Often a new transceiver goes in, when the connector was simply dirty.

  • And when an optic does need replacing, the digging starts: which part number is in there, and which coding does that switch accept?

How it works

  1. An agent in your own network

You install the agent yourself, inside your own network. No inbound ports are opened.

  2. The right protocol per device

Per switch or router, the agent checks what the platform supports and collects via SNMP, NETCONF or gNMI, or a combination. Read-only.

  3. Aggregated locally, sent outbound

The agent aggregates locally and sends compact gRPC messages to FiberNxt, over VPN or the internet.

  4. Compared with its own baseline

Per port we compare laser bias current, Tx/Rx power, temperature, CRC errors, FEC and flaps with that module's own baseline, not just with the vendor's thresholds.

Advice in steps, cheapest cause first

A dirty connector or a damaged fiber shows the same symptoms as a bad optic. That's why the advice doesn't start with a new transceiver.

  1. Clean the connection first.

  2. Praevisio then measures again for fifteen minutes.

  3. Only if the advice is still the same: swap the transceiver.

We sell optics. That's exactly why the advice tells you straight when you don't need one.

Every optic mapped, and which one belongs there

Praevisio records which optic sits in each port (vendor, part number and serial number) and on which platform. When an optic needs replacing, we determine the right replacement and the right coding for your platform. If you like, we prepare the quote for you.

  • The quote is optional. You ask for it when you want it.

  • Order wherever you like. You're not tied to FiberNxt.

  • The inventory is yours.

Your network and your data

  • Outbound traffic only. The agent opens no inbound ports.

  • We never open a shell session from outside.

  • Your device credentials stay on site.

  • The agent only reads. It changes nothing on your equipment.

  • Your data stays in the Netherlands, on FiberNxt's own hardware.

  • We keep raw data for at least 90 days and aggregated data for up to 2 years. That's how you tell an ageing laser from a hot summer.

  • Cancel or delete your account and your data is deleted automatically.

  • You can request an export of your data.

Also through Xyphen IT

Praevisio is also available through Xyphen IT, as part of NOC-as-a-Service. Xyphen IT is a FiberNxt service partner and builds its NOC service around Praevisio.

Frequently asked questions

Does Praevisio predict when an optic will fail?

No, and we don't promise that. Praevisio sees when an optic drifts from its own baseline and gives advice on it. Some failures are sudden, with no warning signs beforehand. Nobody sees those coming.

Which switches and routers does it work with?

Per device, the agent checks what the platform supports and picks SNMP, NETCONF or gNMI, or a combination. We don't publish a platform list yet. Name your vendors in the form; it helps us set up the beta.

Do I need to open ports for inbound traffic?

No. The agent only makes outbound connections to FiberNxt, over VPN or the internet. We never open a shell session from outside, and your device credentials stay on site.

Do I have to buy my optics from FiberNxt?

No. We determine the right replacement and coding for your platform and can prepare a quote, but it's optional. Order wherever you like; the inventory is yours.

Where is my data stored, and for how long?

In the Netherlands, on FiberNxt's own hardware. Raw data for at least 90 days, aggregated data for up to 2 years. Cancel or delete your account and your data is deleted automatically. You can request an export.
