Cisco coding for the SFP-10G-SR
We program this SFP-10G-SR with Cisco coding before shipping, at no extra cost. Your Cisco equipment (Catalyst, Nexus, ISR, ASR) then sees it as its own optic, just like a SFP-10G-SR. Optically it's the same SFP+ transceiver: 10GBASE-SR, up to 300 m over OM3.
Cisco IOS, IOS-XE and NX-OS read the module's vendor ID and checksum on insertion. Without Cisco coding you usually get an 'unsupported transceiver' message and the port goes err-disabled; 'service unsupported-transceiver' is a hidden, unsupported command. With Cisco coding the switch recognises the module as a Cisco optic and that command isn't needed.
