Optically it's the same SFP+ transceiver: 10GBASE-LR, up to 10 km over OS2.
NVIDIA Onyx/Cumulus and ConnectX cards work with many MSA modules, but not with every combination of firmware and module. With Mellanox/NVIDIA coding the switch or card recognises the module as an NVIDIA optic.
